About Cortex

Cortex invests in engineering firms and builds AI software for hardware engineering. We help engineers find useful work from past projects and automate routine design checks. Technical decisions and sign-off stay with the engineers.

We’re hiring two interns to work directly with the founders. Both roles are remote. We’d like to find people who could grow with the company.

The opportunity

We’re looking for someone who wants to help build a company and is comfortable taking on work they haven’t done before.

You’ll work directly with the founders on projects across the business. The mix will change as Cortex grows. You might research an acquisition opportunity one week and help find a great engineer the next. We’ll expect you to take a project, work out what it needs and see it through.

What you’ll work on

• Research engineering markets and businesses we could invest in. Help prepare owner outreach and support investment analysis.
• Help find people we should hire and keep the recruiting process moving.
• Research potential customers and partners, prepare outreach and follow up on conversations.
• Build simple tools or processes that make the company run better. Take on other founder projects with a clear outcome.

A project might start with a question we haven’t answered yet: which firms should we approach, where should we look for a hire, or how should we organize a process that keeps getting stuck? You’ll do the research, recommend a next step and help carry it out.
