About Cortex

Cortex invests in engineering firms and builds AI software for hardware engineering. We help engineers find useful work from past projects and automate routine design checks. Technical decisions and sign-off stay with the engineers.

We’re hiring two interns to work directly with the founders. Both roles are remote. We’d like to find people who could grow with the company.

The opportunity

We’re looking for an exceptional engineer early in their career. If you’ve built something you can’t quite stop working on, we’d like to see it.

You’ll work with the founders on Cortex’s core product, taking a problem from an early prototype through to software an engineer can use. We expect you to have a view on how it should be built.

What you’ll work on

• Build agents that can find relevant project knowledge and carry out engineering checks, with evidence behind their answers.
• Figure out where those agents fail. Write evaluations that catch the mistakes and use them to improve the software.
• Build the interface as well as what runs behind it. Work with engineers using the product and make it better from what you learn.

A project might be taking a manual design check and building the agent, tests and review interface around it. The difficult part is knowing when the result is right and giving an engineer enough evidence to judge it.

This is an early team. There is room to make decisions that could stay in the product for years. You’ll be close to the people building the company and the engineers using what you build.
